In this episode, I have a very special guest, Jeff Wulbrun. He is the Head Coach of the University of Denver Men’s Basketball Team. He shares such excellent knowledge about the game of basketball. He goes into how the University of Denver recruits high school athletes and what they look for. Not only that, but he shares how great basketball players carry themselves.
Then, we talk about the culture of the Denver Nuggets and how they built that culture. He explains how when one player, or oftentimes your best player, buys into the culture, the team will follow. The Denver Nuggets are an excellent example of that. Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets best player and the NBA’s best player, carries himself in a humble manner. Jokic having that mindset affects the team in such a positive manner. He understands the value of being a team player. He instructs the rookies on the team how to perform and be in the best spot. He is like having a second head coach on the basketball floor. His basketball I.Q. is off the charts, and he sees the plays before they develop and happen. The Denver Nuggets have great success due to their incredible players, such as Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Nikola Jokic. They also have team success because every player on that team and organization buys into the end goal. The end goal is to win an NBA championship. The Denver Nuggets Head Coach Michael Malone mentioned it yesterday at the NBA’s Media Day. He said, “Last season is over.” “If we’re serious about being a team that can repeat, if we’re serious about trying to be a team that can be dynasty, we have to bring our best every single day starting [Tuesday] in practice.”
–Ohm Youngmisuk
Coach Malone and the Denver Nuggets understand the task at hand. They are all bought into the end goal of winning another NBA Championship. They recognize that teams will come at them their hardest every night because they are the defending champs. That is good, though. The Denver Nuggets more than welcome that. The Denver Nuggets will be in the national spotlight from day one to the end of the season. The Denver Nuggets have thirty national T.V. games this year. So, the national media is going to have no excuse no when they continue to understand the Denver Nuggets. In conclusion, for fans and listeners out there, the preseason starts October 10th, which is incredibly exciting. I will release another episode shortly, so stay tuned for that.
